Important Questions From The Trust To The Club[5/1/2012]
Ipswich Town 1st has been trying to provide a voice for Ipswich Town Supporters since the dark days of Administration, we have been somewhat quiet since the Marcus Evans group became involved finding it difficult to establish a dialogue with the Club. Like most supporters we are extremely concerned about the direction events are taking at Portman Road. Performances on the pitch have generally been dreadful and last Monday’s performance was the nadir, but events off the pitch are also very worrying and we have a number of questions that we would like to have addressed. Put Ipswich Town's Academy First[4/1/2012]
We at the Trust have noted the speculation in terms of whether the club should adopt Category One or Two status under the Premier League’s Elite Player Performance Plan (EPPP). Like most football fans, we at the Trust found the attempts of the Premier League to bully the clubs into accepting the EPPP, and while we were saddened that these tactics worked, but we were pleased to hear that Ipswich Town had voted against the Premier League’s proposal. The last generation has seen a common theme amongst a number of football clubs – a new owner arrives, acquires the ground from the local authority (if they need to), and then looks to sell the land for a significant profit, while either not building an alternative, or being financially assisted by multinational companies to build a replacement on greenbelt land, in an out of town location, in order for the multinational companies to capitalize on the land losing its greenbelt status.
