![]() Ipswich 'Til I Die - The People's Book Prize for October
As previously mentioned in the news section on this site, Ipswich 'Til I Die has been nominated in the non-fiction section of the October People's Book Prize.
The publishers have issued the following statement: Legends Publishing are delighted that Ipswich ‘Til I Die has been nominated for October’s People’s Book Prize and hope Town fans will vote and make positive comments regarding this popular publication. The late, great Sir Bobby Robson personally wrote the book’s foreword and said, “It never ceases to amaze me how football has the power to instil such passion and emotion in us…” The stories contained in this very unique publication underline those profound sentiments in a very powerful way. Ipswich Town fans of every age and era contributed stories to this book – some will make readers laugh, others will make them cry, but all will give readers an insight into what it really means to call yourself a fan of Ipswich Town football club. People are encouraged to register their support for this book by visiting http://www.peoplesbookprize.com and voting for Ipswich ‘Til I Die in the October’s Non-Fiction section. The award would be a very fitting tribute to a very worthy candidate. Votes can be cast throughout the month of October. The Ipswich ‘Til I Die project is collaboration between the National Literacy Trust, Legends Publishing and Ipswich Town First Supporters’ Trust – using funding provided from the Football Foundation, Department for Children, Schools and Families and Supporters Direct. 600 copies of the book were given free to local schools and libraries to encourage other people to read and learn about the important role the fans and the football club play in the local community and to encourage a sense of local pride and achievement. The book is on sale at Planet Blue the Ipswich Town shop in Portman Road, online at www.twtd.co.uk/trustbook or by phone from Jane Summerfield on 0779-257-7893 Please take the time to vote for us so that we can bring national recognition to the book and its contributors and promote ongoing sales which benefit local community based projects. |
